Q'apla!
Today was my appointment at Humber College. A while ago, I applied for a myriad of creative programs at Sheridan, Humber, and Seneca. So today, was one of the steps towards acceptance into the Interior Decorating program. Still no word on the Interior Design program. Oh well. Two years, or four? Heheheh.
It was nerve-wracking to do this, as I never gone through a program screening before. Humber says it's mandatory to do an English assessment for all applicants. So, essay for part one. Then we did a [half-hour] sketch of still life. One by one, we got called in to the portfolio assessment with a faculty member. There was also a test on colour blindness and spacial acuity.
By the time it was all said and done, I'm accepted into the program.
And now, what to do? Interior Decorating @ Humber... or Retail Florist @ Seneca. Lessee: 1.75hrs (rushhour)/2hrs (non-rushhour) trip or a 30min (rushhour)/15min (non-rushhour) trip. 2yrs vs 1yr. Big bucks freelance style work, vs fluctutations in the market according to the seasonal sales?
Perhaps it will be years before I can even be compared to Debbie Travis. It's like hiring someone of the trade. Those who are good at it will be popular, because everyone trusts their work and recommends them to others. And the nobodies are pretty far down the ladder, that they're much like the ground on which the ladder rests upon. The lady who interviewed me said that I could end up working in a firm, but the pay is the pits.
Funny how I wanted to get into architecture back in high school days. But between these programs, I wish there was the possibility/capability of doing both, concurrently. Any suggestions?
